Thesis results: Storage Costs ($ USD) per ton of CO2

Includes costs calculated for remaining storage window (non-dotted areas in orange) and no storage areas in red. Dotted highest storage costs are results from database. The areas within the storage window that have limited to no data but could be explored for storage in near future.

Data inputs: GCCC's brine database + USGS's carbon dioxide storage assessment database

Nationwide CO2 Storage Capacity and Injectivity Analysis

Storage Capacity Analysis is based on pressure increase availability within a porous volume.

Input data: USGS carbon dioxide storage assessment database

Map shows CO2 storage formation groups (known as "Systems") that yielded the highest injectivity compared to other systems stacked vertically. As part of the capacity and injectivity analysis, we also included the following items:

1) # of wells needed to inject 1 million tons of CO2 per year (MTpa)
2) # of potential CCS projects in a given polygon area
3) Area per Project
4) Well Spacing within Projects
